Abstract

In order the class to be effective, teachers need to know what students need. However nowdays, there are still teachers who do not do so. One of the issues is that teachers of EFL do not aware of what language that students want them to use in EFL classroom. Therefore, the researcher conducted this research with the aims to find out the students’ perceptions about English teachers talk and to know students’ expectation of English teachers talks. The results of questionnaire showed that the students prefered their teachers using L1 in English classroom when they explained material in English classroom. The result of interview showed that most students expected that their teachers students to mix the two languages in English classroom, while some prefered L1 to be the main language in the class.
