Student’s Perspectives On International And Local Teaching Practice Programs : A Comparative Study

Abstract

This study explores the differences of student perspective on PPL experience in international and local context, and challenges faced by student during PPL program. Using qualitative method, the data collected through open-ended interviews with 8 participants. The participants are the department of English Language Education students at UIN Ar-Raniry batch 2022. The findings of this research reveals that during conducting PPL program, students feel their confidence is increased, the ability in class menagement and teaching strategy are also increased, during PPL program student also get guidance and support from their mentors. Students also face several challenges during PPL, such as local PPL students faced challenge in school facilities, emotional challenges, and teaching strategy and class management challenges. International PPL students also experiencing challenges during PPL such as culture shock, language barries, teaching strategies and class management challenges. This study highlights the importance of preparation, insight and adaptability before conducting the PPL program. The findings of this research can give information and valuable insights for students related to PPL, and providing input for teacher education programs to better prepare students for this PPL program.
