Abstract
This study aims to examine in depth the moral development process of students at Dayah Raudhatul Hikmah Al Waliyyah by analyzing the strategies employed, the role of educators, and its impact on students’ character formation. The study adopts a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation involving the head of the dayah, teachers, and students. Data analysis was conducted interactively through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that students’ moral development is implemented in an integrated manner through the study of religious texts, habituation of worship practices, educators’ role modeling, and the enforcement of pesantren discipline in daily life. Moral development is not merely instructional but is realized through continuous practice, sustained habituation, and direct supervision by educators. Despite challenges such as students’ diverse backgrounds and the influence of technological developments, consistent moral development practices have been shown to positively affect students’ behavior, attitudes, and character. This study concludes that systematic and sustainable moral development plays a crucial role in shaping students’ character within the dayah environment.
