Qaṣīdah Ḍajīj al-Ḥajīj li Aḥmad Shawqī (Dirāsah ‘Arūdhīyyah Taḥlīliyyah)

The importance of studies on ʿaruḍ and qawafi in the development of classical Arabic literature in Indonesia has encouraged researchers to identify wazan patterns and the types of qāfiyah used in each verse of the poem Dhajijul Al-Hajij. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the poem Dhajijul Al-Hajij from the perspective of the sciences of `arud and qawafi. The method employed in this research is descriptive qualitative, with data collected through a literature review by examining various sources that discuss the development of Arabic literature. The data analysis techniques used in this study include identifying, classifying, analyzing, and drawing conclusions. The results show that Aḥmad Shawqi employs a consistent baḥr pattern and applies the rules of qafiyah in a disciplined manner. The ʿaruḍ elements in the poem Dhajijul Al-Hajij include Baḥr alBasiṭ, ziḥaf al-khabn, and the absence of ʿillah, both in the tafʿilah of the ʿaruḍ and in the ḍarb. As for the qafiyah elements, the forms used are one-and-a-half-word qafiyah, twoword qafiyah, and one-word qafiyah; the types of qafiyah include the use of rawi muṭlaq employing the letter mim, along with another qafiyah letter, namely waṣl; the vowel of the qafiyah letter used is al-majra with the ḍammah vowel; and the name of the qafiyah applied is al-mutarakib.
