Tipologi Kepribadian Tokoh Utama dalam Cerpen Ustādh Karya ʿAlī al-Ṭanṭāwī: Kajian Psikologi Sastra

This study aims to analyze and describe the personality typology of Abdul Wasi' in the short story Ustādh by ʿAlī al-Ṭanṭāwī based on the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) theory. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method with a literary psychology approach. The research data consist of excerpts from the short story that indicate the character's personality tendencies based on the four MBTI dimensions. Data were collected through reading and note-taking, close reading, literature review, and manual coding techniques. Data analysis was conducted using the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results show that Abdul Wasi' exhibits tendencies toward Introversion (I), Intuition (N), Feeling (F), and Judging (J). The Introversion (I) tendency is reflected in his orientation toward solitude, reflection, and memories; Intuition (N) is reflected in his ability to interpret experiences abstractly; Feeling (F) is reflected in his affection and concern for his students; and Judging (J) is reflected in his tendency to maintain his views regarding teacher-student relationships and to provide guidance based on his experiences. Based on these four tendencies, Abdul Wasi' can be identified as an INFJ personality type (Introversion, Intuition, Feeling, Judging), characterized by a reflective disposition, sensitivity to emotional relationships, depth in interpreting experiences, and relatively firm views regarding teacher-student relationships and his profession as a teacher. This study is expected to contribute to the development of literary psychology studies in literary works.
