Abstract
This study examines the representation of Islamic moral values in the film My Name Is Khan (2010) through a thematic analysis approach. As a cultural text, the film functions as a medium through which meaning is constructed and negotiated, making it an important object for exploring the relationship between media representation and religious ethics. This study aims to identify and analyze how Islamic moral values are represented in the film's narrative and characterization by employing Stuart Hall's Representation Theory, which views meaning as something produced and interpreted through language and culture, in conjunction with Al-Ghazali's framework of Islamic morality. Al-Ghazali's conceptualization, which is grounded in four principal pillars of moral virtue, was narrowed by the researcher into seven values as the focus of the analysis, selected from a total of nineteen occurrences identified in the data. This study employed a qualitative thematic analysis of the film's dialogues, scenes, and characters' actions to identify and categorize the representation of Islamic moral values. The analysis revealed seven dominant Islamic moral values with the following distribution: Compassion (31.6%), Patience (21.1%), Honesty (15.8%), Justice (15.8%), Sincerity (5.3%), Humility (5.3%), and Trustworthiness (5.3%), representing a total of nineteen identified occurrences.
