Abstract

Lipstick is a lip color that is packaged in such a way, either in the form of a solid stick or liquid, and consists of oil, wax and fat, where the type of oil, wax, and fat that used can be derived from vegetable and animal ingredients. This study aims to determine the presence of lard fatty acids in lipstick and determine the types of fats contained in lipstick distributed in Pasar Aceh. The method used in this study was of fatty acid soxhlet extraction on lipstick with hexane solvent which was then analyzed by Fourier Transform Infra Red (FTIR). The results showed that the type of fat contained in 3 types of lipstick distributed in the Aceh Market was vegetable fat,which is indicated by the presence of a functional group consisting of C = O at a wavelength of 3456.44 cm-1 , 3437.15 cm-1 , 3460.30 cm-1 , 2646.34 cm-1 , 2630.91 cm-1 , 2646.34 cm-1 , 1747.51 cm-1 , 1743.65 cm-1 , 1739.76 cm-1 . C-H at wavelengths of 2974.23 cm-1 and 2981.95 cm-1 . C-O at wavelengths 1273.02 cm-1 and 1269.16 cm-1 . C = C at wavelengths 744.52 cm-1 , 744.52 cm-1 and 729.09 cm-1 . So it can be concluded that the lipstick distributed in the Aceh Market does not contain lard.
