Abstract
English is an international language that is widely used in various countries in the world. In English, there are many skills that should be mastered and one of which is writing skill. The aims of this research were to know the extent to which picture strip story improve the ability in writing narrative text, and to know the students’ perception on the implementation of picture strip story teaching in writing narrative text. The writer used quasi experimental research which focused on the test (pre-test and post-test), teaching experiment, and questionnaire. The population of this research is the boys of the second year that consist of 53 students in 2 classes at MTsS Darul Ihsan Aceh Besar. The writer used quantitative data that were analyzed by comparing the mean of the pre-test and post-test score of experimental class. The mean score of pre-test was 21 and it improved in post-test became 80. The findings of this research indicated that using picture strip story improved the ability of students’ in writing narrative and based on the analysis of questionnaire the writer found that many students’ agreed that picture strip story has improved the ability of students’ in writing.
