Abstract

Speaking performance is the act of conveying information from a speaker to a listener through words, speech, and sentences, and their oral performance will automatically show the quality of students’ competence. Most students find it difficult to express their idea in the target language. This research aims to show improvements in students’ average scores before and after t treatment. The research method used in this research is pre-experimental research design. To achieve the goal of this study the researcher used quantitative design, and the research data were collected using pre-test, post-test, and questionnaires. The participants are students of public speaking class unit 5 in 2021 of Universitas Islam Negeri Ar-Raniry (UIN Ar-Raniry) who were chosen randomly. The data results show that the Pecha Kucha method succeeded in improving students' speaking performance, which can be seen from the improvement in the average score from pre-test to post-test. Furthermore, Pecha Kucha also proven to improve students' speaking performance and provide fun learning activities.
