Abstract

Reading is one of the important activities that must be owned by students, especially in Arabic language students, reading can also be increased by the motivation possessed by students. The purpose of this study is to determine the level of intensity of motivation to read Arabic texts by students and the connection between motivation and learning outcomes. The method used by quantitative research correlation studies, which is a type of research that aims to see how far the connection between motivation to read Arabic texts and learning outcomes. The instrument in this study were questionnaire and documentation. The research population was all student of department of Arabic Language Education study program semester 4 with a sample of 17 from 165 student. The intensity of students in the motivation to read Arabic texts got a percentage result of 65.05%. This shows that the level of motivation to read Arabic texts of students in the Arabic language education department semester 4 academic year 2021/2022 is high. Then in the results of the correlation test, a correlation level of 0.53 (R) with a sig of 0,02 > 0,05 showed that there was a conecction between motivation to read Arabic texts and student achievement in Muthala'ah subjects with a sufficient / moderate level of correlation.
