Abstract
Most students of X MIA3 at MAS Babun Najah Banda Aceh are unable to concentrate and bore during chemistry class. Due to the lecture method employed by the chemistry teacher, learning activities and achievement are yet to reach its target. This study aims to find out student and teacher learning activities, student learning mastery using the scramble cooperative learning model, and student responses toward the scramble cooperative learning model on compound nomenclatures. The research design used in the study was the classroom action research.The subjects of the study were all 30 students of X MAS Babun Najah Banda Aceh. The data were collected from the observation of student and teacher activities, test, and questionnaires distributed to the students. The data were analyzed using percentage (%). The results of the study show that using the scramble model, the teaching activities increased from around 77% in the Cycle I to 83% in the Cycle II. Student activities also demonstrate similar results, increasing up to 85% in the Cycle I from just about 75% in the Cycle I. Surprisingly, the student learning mastery which can be observed from test results experience the highest leap from just 73% in the Cycle I to 100% in the Cycle II. Finally, about 97,67% of the students rated the model as interesting. It can be concluded that the application of the scramble cooperative learning model can improve teacher and student activities and enhance student learning mastery on compound nomenclatures at MAS Babun Najah Banda Aceh.
