Abstract

Cultural intelligence is a context that brings different understandings of different cultures, which also creates a feeling of cultural shock, so one needs to develop better cultural intelligence. In addition, Adaptive performance is often a learned experience based on the individual's previous adaptive experience; if a person experiences some condition requiring modification of the environment, he or she must perform effectively in future situations requiring comparable adaptations. This research was conducted to explore the extent to which the development of cultural intelligence is based on international experience and the perspective of lecturers regarding the impact of international experience on their adaptive performance. Qualitative methods were used to interpret the results obtained from applying the ten interview questions. This research was conducted at two state universities in Aceh involving five lecturers as participants. The results of this study indicate that some participants feel that international experience greatly influences the development of cultural intelligence. In addition, among several factors that influence the development of cultural intelligence, including multicultural factors which are also supported by lifestyle or living culture factors as well as academic factors, as well as language barriers. Based on the findings. It was found that international experience was as good an outcome as international experience. then, international experience also has an impact on one's adaptive performance. In addition, this adaptive performance also brings many positive impacts for an educator. If someone can have high cultural intelligence, then it will also support the development of good adaptive performance. Therefore it is said that adaptive performance is very relevant to cultural intelligence.
