Abstract

The adoption of ICT has enabled student to use many kinds of tools for learning like Google scholar to support their thesis writing to look for references. During Technology of Acceptance Model (TAM) as the model of learning moves from the traditional delivery to a more remote method such as online learning, the need for students to embrace technology has become more evident. Here Google scholar as online tool to look for information and references in completing students’ thesis. This research was conducted using the TAM model by considering the perceived of usefulness, perceived ease of use, intention to use and usage behavior factor. This research aims (1) to find out EFL students’ level awareness using of Google scholar in completing their thesis (2) to find out students’ perception of using Google scholar in completing thesis. This research employed a quantitative research approach in which the data collected through an online questionnaire and interview. The respondents are 86 students of PBI UIN Ar- Raniry from 2016 – 2017 academic years. The results showed that the aspect of TAM has an effect for student to embrace technology use of Google Scholar in completing their thesis on two major factor; perceived usefulness and ease of use. This research found that the majority of students were moderately aware of using Google scholar in completing their thesis. Most students admitted two factors that they often use of Google scholar to look for references in thesis writing.
