Abstract

The emergence of corona virus has resulted in learning not being able to be done face to face. This study aimed to describe (1) teachers’ perceptions of online learning during the covid-19 pandemic, (2) the obstacles experienced by teachers in implementing online-based learning, (3) and what efforts are made by teachers in overcoming these obstacles. This study uses a descriptive method with a quantitative approach. The population of this study was the teachers of Elementary school located in Bukit district, Bener Meriah regency. This study used purposive sampling technique with a total sample of 20 teachers and 4 principals. The instrumen used in this study were questionnaires and interviews. The research results were; (1) Teachers perseptions of online learning during the covid-19 pandemic were less effective to be applied to the Elementary school level. (2) The obstacles to online learning are inadequate online learning facilities, unstable internet network, and lack of student understanding of the material presented. (3) The efforts of teachers in dealing wuth online learning obstacles are picking up materials and assignments for one week, providing internet and wifi for teachers, use a SIM card that is suitable for the residential area, and who do not understand about materials can contact the teacher to ask for an explanation.
