Abstract

In this globalization era, technological developments have a great impact on children’s education, including uncontrolled children’s activities which leads to committing criminal acts. Therefore, character education is deemed very important in today’s world to shape the character of children. This study aims to examine the implementation of Al-Ghazali and Thomas Lickona's perspective character education at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Terpadu (MIT) Meunara Baro, Aceh Besar District. This study uses a field research method with a descriptive qualitative approach in the implementation of character education at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Terpadu (MIT) Meunara Baro. The data collection techniques include (a) observation of the learning process, (b) interviews with school principals, teaching and student sections, (c) documentation review. The findings revealed that character education was implemented at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Terpadu (MIT) Meunara Baro, specifically: (1) education of compassion, role models, humility, honesty, trustworthiness, upright, giving good advice, using interesting learning methods and getting closer to God, (2) the components of student character education include moral knowledge, moral feeling, and moral action.

Perkembangan teknologi di era globalisasi menimbulkan dampak terhadap pendidikan anak, aktivitas anak tidak terkontrol dengan baik dan terkadang melakukan tindakan kriminal dan lain sebagainya. Implementasi pendidikan karakter di era globalisasi sangat penting dalam membentuk karakter anak. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji implementasi pendidikan karakter perspektif Al-Ghazali dan Thomas Lickona di Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Terpadu (MIT) Meunara Baro Kabupaten Aceh Besar.Penelitian ini menggunakan metode field research dengan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dalam implementasi pendidikan karakter di Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Terpadu (MIT) Meunara Baro. Adapun teknik pengumpulan data meliputi (a) observasi proses pembelajaran, (b) interview dengan kepala sekolah, bagian pengajaran, dan bagian kesiswaan, (c) telaah dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa implementasi pendidikan karakter di Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Terpadu (MIT) Meunara Baro yaitu (1) pendidikan kasih sayang, suri teladan, rendah hati, jujur, amanah, istiqamah, memberikan nasehat yang baik, menggunakan metode pembelajaran yang menarik dan mendekatkan diri kepada Allah, (2) komponen pendidikan karakter peserta didik meliputi Moral knowing (pengetahuan moral), moral feeling (perasaan moral) dan moral action (perbuatan moral).
