Abstract

Contextual learning is n learning model whiet emphasizes the learning materials with real life situations and conditions, and motivates the learners to correlate the learned materials with the implementation in the family life and the society This type of learning model is not unfamiliar in Islamic teaching. In fact, Prophet Muhammad p.b.u.h, as a role educator, had practiced such model in his educative interactions with his companions. The interactions can be found in several hadith discussed in this paper which describe facts, values and spirit of the contextual learning implemented by the Prophet. Moreover, almost all the characteristics implemented of by contextual learning known today had been Prophet Muhammad p.b.u.h towards his companions. Hence, such realization can enhance our spirit as educators to practice the model in our educative interactions with the learners.
