Exploring Students’ Motivation to Study at Islamic Boarding school. Motivationn persuing study at Islamic boarding school, many students choose Islamic Boarding School to study. There are two factors that motivated students to study at Islamic boarding school, Intriunsic and exrinsinsic motivation. It is inevitable that on their journey of learning they encounter obstacles and from that motivation they have to maintain to stay in the boarding school. The aims of this study is to find out the students’ motivation to study at Islamic boarding school. There are ten students from Madrasah Aliyah Darul Ulum to be parcipant of this study. This study used qualitative research methods to obtain data through interview. Data is transcribed, coded, analyzed by correlating certain data, and interpret the results. This research shows that motivation has several reasons to study at Islamic boarding school. most of the students told the researcher that their motivation to study at Islamic boarding school was due to internal and external factors. The results reveal that students study at Islamic boarding school are intrinsically motivated and extrinsic.
