Abstract

The result of Ibn Khaldun's thinking is the theory of "Asabiyyah" (Solidarity of groups, fanaticism of tribes, or nepotism). His observation of the state of Muslims during interfaith conflicts and their attempt to gain power by depending on group cohesion is what gave rise to the Asabiyyah idea. This article will analyze Ibn Khaldun's theory of "asabiyyah." A historical and normative perspective is used to evaluate this work. The findings demonstrated that applying the "Asabiyyah theory" does not have a negative or evil outcome. In Ibn Khaldun's view, this theory is the only way to maintain control over the group's behavior. Religion has a crucial role in easing the stress associated with this asabiyyah activity. Although Ibn Khaldun indicated that the "Asabiyyah" (Solidarity Group, fanaticism group) is a part of Sunnatullah that cannot be eradicated from human life, we need also observe Islamic law on the practice of "Asabiyyah" (Solidarity Group) from an Islamic perspective in this instance. According to Islamic law, the practice of 'Asabiyyah (solidarity Group) cannot be outlawed because it goes against the intent of the creation of Islamic law. The goal of accepted Islamic law is to advance the welfare of humanity. While the nepotism, solidarity group, and Fanatime tribe practices caused suffering, antagonism, and the disintegration of human life's joints both in this world and the next.
