Abstract

This study explores students' perceptions of students' reading comprehension through the LRD strategy. This study aimed to determine students' positive and negative perceptions as well as the advantages and disadvantages of applying the LRD strategy in learning reading comprehension. The subjects in this study consisted of 30 students of class XI SMA 8 UNGGUL Takengon. This study uses a quantitative research and uses a questionnaire as a data collection tool. The results of this study indicate that positive statements consisting of five statements have an average value of 3.9 to 4.86, while two statements which are negative statements have an average value of 2.06 and 2.73. In addition, the results of the questionnaire also show that statements that lead to the advantages of implementing the LRD strategy get high ratings from students. Likewise, statements that cause losses in implementing strategies also get a high rating, meaning that the statements given are really detrimental to students. The researcher hopes that in this research in the future there will be more training for teachers to improve learning methods or techniques such as LRD strategies, especially in learning that emphasizes listening, reading and speaking skills which are often considered difficult by students. The classroom atmosphere tends to be important for students who are motivated to learn. It is hoped that the use of the LRD strategy can always be applied in learning and development.
