Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the effect of using picture sequences on improving students' writing skills and to explore students' perceptions of the use of picture sequences in improving their writing skills. The study used a quantitative descriptive design and involved 25 students from grade X.E and 25 students from grade X.H senior high school of Darul Ihsan, who were divided into control and experimental groups, each consisting of 25 students. The data were collected using pre-tests and post-tests, and the data analyses used t-test. Questionnaires were also used to reinforce the research results and to see students' perceptions. The results showed that using picture sequences improved students' writing skills, specifically in writing recount text. The hypothesis was accepted as the t-score was higher than the t-table with a significance level of 0.05. Therefore, the use of picture sequences in the learning process and in improving students' writing skills is highly recommended to be implemented in the classrooms.
