Abstract
Oyster mushrooms (Pleurotus osteorotus) are wood fungi that grow sideways on rotting wood stems. Fungi take food that has been made by other dead organisms (saprophytes), because they do not have chlorophyll, all types of saprophytes, especially those that grow on wood, can be easily cultivated. Sago dregs (Metroxylon sago) and dried banana leaves (Musa paradisisaca) are useful as a growing medium for oyster mushrooms because they contain ingredients that are good enough for the growth of white oyster mushrooms. The aim of this research was to test the effect of using sago dregs and dried banana leaves on the growth of white oyster mushrooms. The research design used was RAL with 6 treatments and 4 replications for mycelium growth and pinhead emergence. The treatment given was sawdust as a control and a mixture of sago dregs and dried banana leaves in the respective ratios of 80% : 20%, 50% : 50%, 20% : 80%, as well as sago dregs and dried banana leaves respectively, each 100% as a control. The parameter observed was the growth of white oyster mushroom mycelium which was measured every 3 days for 33 days. Data were analyzed using the one-way ANOVA test and continued with the Duncan test. The results showed that there were significant differences in the growth of white oyster mushroom mycelium grown at different concentrations. Mycelium height growth was faster on T1 media with an average of 122.9 cm. The appearance of the pinhead has a real effect with the best pinhead appearing on T2.
