Abstract
Teachers should employ various strategies to motivate students to engage actively and willingly participate in the teaching and learning process. One successful approach to enhance students' involvement in reading classes is by using the hanger book report as an educational tool. The aims of this study are to discover the improvement of students’ computational thinking in reading comprehension by using the Hanger Book Report and to find out how students respond to learning reading comprehension by using the Hanger Book Report as an educational tool. This study uses a quantitative method and a pre-experimental design. The population consists of students from SMPN 6 class VIII, and the sample was randomly selected, resulting in one class of 34 students as participants. Data collection utilizes tests and questionnaires. The results of the test analysis showed that 59% of students experienced an increase reading skill by learning with the book report hangers. The results of the students' responses also indicated that they were inspired, motivated, enjoyed, and had confidence in learning reading by using a book hanger report. The data also demonstrates that using a book hanger report in learning reading helps to develop thinking skills in computational thinking. Computational thinking is one part of the Merdeka curriculum, which is valuable in helping to understand complex problems, find solutions, and develop possible solutions applicable to these problems. In brief, hanger book report leads the students’ computational thinking improve.
