Abstract

The background of this study highlights the low prayer skills of class VII students at SMP Hang Tuah 2 Medan. Many students were found to be playing around during prayer practice, indicating that conventional teaching methods were not effective. Therefore, the study aimed to utilize YouTube media as a support in the demonstration method to improve students' prayer skills. The research was conducted in class VII/1 and VII/2, involving 24 students (12 male and 12 female). The objective was to enhance students' ability to perform prayers correctly by integrating digital media into the learning process. This study used a Classroom Action Research (CAR) method consisting of two cycles. Data collection was carried out through observations of teacher and student activities, and assessment of student performance. The results showed positive developments. Teacher activity increased from 82.35% in cycle I to 88.2% in cycle II. Student activity also improved significantly, from 75.76% in cycle I to 88.25% in cycle II. These findings indicate that using YouTube media in the demonstration method is effective in enhancing students' engagement and improving their prayer performance skills. The study suggests that digital media can play a valuable role in religious skill-based learning.
