Abstract

The problems experienced by students in the learning of Chemistry among others are less active students in learning, in general Chemistry learning which already done tend to memorize facts, principles, theories and given formula, teachers still use concept approach, so that Chemistry learning is felt unattractive and boring and ultimately students’ learning outcomes tend to be low. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of inquiry learning model towards students’ study result on colloid material at SMAN 1 Teunom Aceh Jaya. The population in this research were all students of class XI at SMAN 1 Teunom Aceh Jaya, while the sample in this study is student of class XI-IPA I as an experimental class totaled of 22 students and class XI-IPA 2 as control class totaled of 22 students, with sampling using purposive sampling method. The data collection is done with test instruments in the form of multiple choice test. The result of this research showed that the average value of class XI-IPA I as experimental class’s Pre test X= 40,5 and Post test X = 79,1. Data from tests which have been conducted by hypotesis testing by using t-test at significance level α = 0,05 with degrees of freedom = 42 based on the results of the study showed that the test results obtained by the research hypothesis tcount=2,7 ttabel=1,67 or tcount> ttabel so that H0 refused and Ha received, thus the learning outcomes of students by using inquiry learning model is higher than the results of students learning without using inquiry learning model on colloid material at SMAN 1 Teunom Aceh Jaya.
