Abstract

This research aims to explore the use of Kahoot in improving students’ motivation in learning English. The study was conducted at MAN 4 Aceh Timur and employed a mixed-methods approach using an explanatory sequential design. Quantitative data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 109 tenth-grade students, and qualitative data were obtained from interviews with three English teachers. The results showed that students responded very positively to the use of Kahoot. Most of them agreed that Kahoot made English learning more enjoyable, interactive, and motivating. Teachers also observed increased student engagement and participation during lessons using Kahoot. However, they noted that Kahoot should be used alongside other methods to support diverse student needs. Teachers also applied various strategies in designing effective Kahoot-based activities, such as adjusting difficulty levels, aligning content with learning objectives, and encouraging teamwork.In conclusion, Kahoot is an effective tool for enhancing students’ motivation in English learning when applied thoughtfully and creatively
