Abstract

This study is entitle “The Use of English Kids’ Song to Improve Students Listening Comprehension”. This is based on phenomenon of students ability in listening still low and it needs tobe improved. The research question of this study are: “What is the effects of teaching listening by using kids’ songs to six grade students at MIN 11 academic year 2016/2017.Andhow the English kid’s song can increase the students of MIN 11 in listening ability.This research was conducted to find out the effect of kids’ song in improving their listening ability, and to find out how the English kids' song can increase their listening comprehension. In obtaining the data, the writer did a pre-experimental study at the six year students of MIN 11 Banda Aceh which involved 33 students in the class〖VI〗_3. The writer used one kind of pre-experimental teaching, namely the one-group pre-test and post-test design. The result shows that there was asignificant improvement on students’ listening comprehension by using song as media. It was found by comparing pre-test and post-test score. The mean score of pre-test was 58,54, while the mean score of post-test was 82,72. Based on the data obtained, the writer concluded that their listening comprehension was increased after being taught using kids’ songs as a media, they also interested and motivatedin learning process. And then, by choosing the approprite kids’ songs is very helpful in improving their listening skills. Keywords: Song, Kids’ song, listening comprehension
