Abstract

Reading comprehension is essential for foreign language learners because it supports vocabulary acquisition, critical thinking, and overall language proficiency. However, numerous learners struggle to understand English texts due to limited vocabulary, monotonous instructional methods, and unengaging learning materials. The present study aimed to examine the impact of Spotify audio content integration on EFL students' reading comprehension development and to explore their perceptions of this platform as a multimodal pedagogical instrument. Quantitative data were processed using descriptive statistical techniques and paired-sample t- tests, whereas qualitative data were analyzed thematically in accordance with Braun and Clarke's (2021) analytical framework. The analysis revealed a significant and meaningful increase in reading comprehension scores, with the mean score advancing from 60.0% in the pre-test to 81.7% in the post-test. The interview data produced three overarching themes: (1) Increased Engagement, (2) Phonological Strengthening, and (3) Motivation through Personalisation. These findings substantiate that Spotify-mediated Reading-while-Listening activities serve as an effective and engaging learning medium for enhancing EFL students' reading comprehension.
