Abstract

Listening is one of the essential abilities to acquire in English because it is one of the most widely used modes of communication. Moreover, various elements may influence learners' listening skills during the listening comprehension process. The advance of technology has provided students with a range of opportunities to improve their listening skills, such as digital tools. The research was conducted to discover students’ perceptions of digital tools to develop listening skills and students’ strategies to use digital tools to overcome their listening problems. A qualitative approach was used as a research design to conduct the study. The participants in this research were ten students of Department of English Language Education on batch 2017 and the data were gathered by interview. The findings of this study show that most students in this study perceived digital tools as one of the learning media that gave many advantages in developing their listening skills. Digital tools had facilitated them to practice listening easily using an interactive tool.
