Abstract

Self-control is an individual ability to modify behavior to manage the unneeded information. Self-control is functioned as physical process management, psychology and behavior in someone. The ability to control someone is very much needed by college students to regulate behavior in daily life, including shoping behavior in online shops, this is very necessary to avoid the emergence of patterns of consumptive behavior. Consumptive behaviour can be interpreted as an act of buying because of the gifts offered and buying because many people use it. This study aims to see the relationship between self-control with consumptive behavior in online shop users at UIN Ar Raniry. This study uses quantitative methods, the population in this study is 23,930 students, obtained as many as 342 samples using the table of Isaac and Michael. This research uses non-probability sampling method with quota sampling technique. The result of this study indicated the value of the correlation coefficient r = -660 with a significance of
0,000. It indicates that there is a very significant negative relation between self- control and consumptive behavior, this means that the higher self control, the lower consumptive behavior appears, and vice versa if the self control lower, the consumptive behavior appears will be higher.
