Abstract
This research is aimed at knowing to what extent the Crossword Games improve students’ vocabulary and to find out the students’ perception about the implemen-tation of Crossword Games. This research was an experimental research at the 2nd grade at SMPs Islam Al-Falah, and the sample was class 2-E, namely 26 students. The techniques of collecting data used teaching experiment, giving the test (pre-test and post-test) and questionnaire. Based on the analysis of the data, it was shown that in the post-test the students who passed in the passing grade were 23 students (78.26 %), in the pre-test only 5 students (21.73 %). Furthermore, the number of the students who got very good (89-100) was 17 students (65.38%) where in the pre-test, the number of students who got very good (89-100) was on-ly 2 students (7.69%). From this result, it can be understood that the implementa-tion of Crossword Games improve students’ vocabulary because the students has strong motivation (96.15%), and initiatives (84.61%). Besides that most of the students said that the Crossword Games is more effective in improving vocabu-lary skill (92.30%), and most of them 26 students (100%) who did not feel bored in learning. Therefore, most of them stated that the score was improved.
