Abstract

The aim of this study is to explore the impact of cooperative learning methods on students' critical thinking skills in English class and to understand students' perceptions of how these methods enhance their critical thinking abilities. The researcher utilized an experimental design to investigate the effect of incorporating cooperative learning into students' activities at MAN 1 INOVASI Subulussalam. The researcher selected a single class as the sample, using a simple random sampling technique. The sample for this study consisted of approximately 15 students from the class, who had previously undergone pre-tests, treatments, and posttests. The research questions were addressed through pre-experimental research and a questionnaire distributed to the students. The results indicated that a significant increase was observed in the scores between the pretest and the posttest results. A significant 86.6% of students express a strong preference for engaging in group learning with their peers.
