Abstract

This research aims to explore the students’ perceptions towards the benefits and the drawbacks of video project as language assignment. This qualitative research used purposive sampling in recruiting the participants. The data of this study were obtained by conducting the interview with seven students as the samples of the study. The samples were seven students of English language department of UIN Ar-Raniry who has experience in producing video project as langauge assignment. The results showed that video project provides several advantages including improving students’ Language skills, enriching students’ pronunciation, grammar and vocabularies, enhancing students’ technology skills and creating interactive and creative learning experiences. Moreover, this study found its disadvantages that the students experienced while producing video project, including the time-consuming project, software issues and miscommunication with the instructor.
