This study was entitled “Improving Student’s Listening Skills Through Watching Cartoon”. This is based on phenomenon of student’s low ability in critical listening
and it needs to be improved. This research was conducted to investigate the extent to which achievement of students using English short cartoon, and to explore the perceptions of the student in learning listening by using cartoon. In obtaining the data, the writer did an experimental study at class of SMP NEGERI 7 Banda Aceh which involved 26 students in the class. The writer used quantitative method which included pre-test and post-test design. The result showed that there was a huge improvement on students listening skill by using short cartoon film as media learning progress. It was found by comparing pre-test and post-test score. Based on the data obtained, the writer concluded that their listening skill had increased after using animation cartoon. From pre-test result, it could be seen that the class which was taught without using English cartoon with score (80,38) and the post-test result with score (92,5). The results of the students' test, which consisted of a pre-test and a post-test, represented the learning outcomes of the class, and these test results served as one point of reference for success in this research.
