Abstract

The purpose of the study was to investigate the strategies used by male and female students of Islamic boarding school at the senior high school level in learning vocabulary. Specifically, this study has several objectives, to find out the strategies used in building vocabulary by male and female students and to investigate how often male and female students apply Vocabulary learning Strategies in learning vocabulary. This study is presented in a Quantitative method to answer the research questions. The research instrument is a questionnaire. The sample involved 36 vocational high school students of As-salam Muamalat Islamic Boarding School (MSBS). consisting of 20 male students and 16 female students from the Graphic Engineering Department in 2024. Determination strategies (DET), Social strategies (SOC), Memory strategy (MEM), Cognitive strategy (COG) and Metacognitive strategies (MET). The results of the data show that female students are more frequent and more consistent than male students in applying vocabulary learning strategies in learning. These results indicate that it is necessary to develop interactive learning strategies and methods that are suitable for both male and female genders.
