Abstract

Prewedding comes from the English word which in Indonesian is a photo taken before the wedding. This means that all the processions carried out before the wedding and are immortalized in a photo, then all of these photos are prewedding photos. Pre-wedding photography is already widely known by the public. Pre-wedding photos are often used as souvenirs in the form of documentation, such as in walimah. Talking about the walimah, of course we will talk about the accessories and make-up that decorate each room, one of which is a picture of a pre-wedding photo, namely the prospective bride and groom taking photos together, which is carried out before the ijab qabul or before the marriage contract. The background of this research is the existence of intimate scenes or poses that often violate Islamic norms and are contrary to Islamic law. The objectives of this study are 1) To find out the practice of pre-wedding photos in Aceh Besar; and 2) The perception of Aceh Besar clerics regarding pre-wedding photos. The results of the study show that the practice of pre-wedding photography in Aceh Besar begins with an introduction between the photographer and the prospective bride and groom, and is continued with an agreement on the cost of the photo shoot. Then continued to the photo shoot session. Regarding the perception of Aceh Besar clerics, it can be concluded that it is permissible as long as it does not violate Islamic law, and it can also be haram when prospective brides and grooms who are not yet legally husband and wife carry out pre-wedding activities that involve khalwat (being alone together without a legal bond), ikhtilat (mixing of men and women), because this is close to adultery and violates Islamic norms.
