Daily Behavior of Silvered Langur (Trachypithecus cristatus) in Brayeun Forest, Aceh Besar

The silvered langur (Trachypithecus cristatus) is an arboreal and diurnal primate whose daily activities are influenced by habitat conditions and food availability. This study aimed to determine the daily behavioral patterns of silvered langurs in the Brayeun Tourism Area, Leupung District, Aceh Besar. The study was conducted in May 2026 using the scan sampling method, with observations carried out from 07.00–10.00 WIB and 15.00–18.00 WIB for seven consecutive days. Data were analyzed descriptively based on the frequency and percentage of each observed behavior. The results showed that feeding was the dominant activity (32.71%), followed by moving (19.43%), resting (16.82%), grooming (12.28%), social interaction (7.08%), carrying infants (6.48%), and nursing (5.20%). Silvered langurs utilized several plant species as food sources, including Leucaena leucocephala, Mangifera odorata, Garcinia mangostana, Durio zibethinus, Ficus benjamina, and Bambusa sp. The dominance of feeding, moving, and resting activities indicates that these behaviors constitute the main components of the daily activity budget of silvered langurs. The findings also suggest that the Brayeun forest area continues to provide suitable habitat and food resources to support the survival of this species.
