Abstract
This research is entitled "The Use of Pyramid Strategy in Helping Students' Writing Narrative Text". It was aimed at finding out to what extend the use of pyramid strategy improves students’ ability in writing narrative text. This research was experimental research. The experiment was conducted through a few classroom meetings in two groups or classes: one class for the experimental group and one for the control group. The sample of this research were students of class VIII-A (experimental class) which consisted of 24 students, and VIII-B (control class) which consisted of 30 students, in MTsS Oemar Diyan Boarding School. The sample was taken by using purposive sampling. To collect the data, the researcher conducted tests (pre-test and post-test) and experimental teaching. To analyze the result of the tests, the researcher used statistical formula to calculate average of the tests. The result showed that pyramid strategy could improve students’ ability in writing narrative text, which proven by the result of the tests that showed an increase in mean scores achieved by experimental class students in post-test (8.54) compared to their mean scores of pre-test (11,17).
