Abstract
Listening is a crucial aspect of communication and serves as a foundation for second language acquisition. In the learning process, teachers require effective strategies and techniques to enhance students' comprehension. With the emergence of various teaching approaches, educators have more options to facilitate learning. A strategy refers to a structured plan or design for delivering material effectively, while a technique represents the specific methods and media used to present the selected content to students. This study aims to explore the strategies and techniques employed by teachers in teaching listening skills. Data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews with two teachers at MAN 4 Aceh Besar. The research utilized purposive sampling, selecting participants based on specific criteria, such as experience in teaching listening and permanent employment at MAN 4 Aceh Besar. For data analysis, the researcher applied data reduction and written summarization techniques. The findings indicate that teachers predominantly use bottom-up strategies rather than top-down approaches in teaching listening skills. The techniques commonly implemented include summarizing, answering questions, filling in blanks, and dictation.
