The Strategies for Preventing Verbal Violence in Early Childhood Education: The Respect Framework Approach

Verbal violence in early childhood education settings is a growing concern due to its negative impact on children's psychological development. This study aims to identify teachers' strategies in preventing verbal violence at TK Negeri 2 Banda Aceh, using the RESPECT framework developed by WHO. A descriptive qualitative method was employed, with data collected through in-depth interviews and documentation. Participants included three teachers who are members of the Violence Prevention and Handling Team (TPPK) and the school principal. The results indicate that teachers implement individual-based approaches through education, storytelling, visual media, and habituation of polite language. The principal supports these efforts through training, establishing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and forming the TPPK based on Permendikbudristek No. 46 of 2023. However, no sanctions are applied to young children; instead, guidance and parental involvement are prioritized. The school lacks formal cooperation with health institutions but has a referral system through the education office. This study confirms that teacher strategies aligned with the RESPECT framework are effective in creating a safer school environment. Recommendations include strengthening parental involvement and developing anti-verbal violence campaigns
